Recently Appointed

  • Regional Outdoor Recreation Opportunities Study - Metro Vancouver & Fraser Valley Regional District, BC
Outdoor recreation in Metro Vancouver (MV) and the Fraser Valley Regional District (FVRD) has tripled since the last study on use patterns was surveyed in 1993. Given the dramatic increase in use, the growing population and the changing demographics, the MV and the FVRD are collaborating on a multi-year project to assess regional outdoor recreation opportunities. LEES + Associates will be leading a multi-disciplinary team to measure outdoor recreation demand in both regions, and to undertake a literature review of outdoor recreation trends across North America. The ultimate goal of this study is to inform the MV and FVRD where their regional park programs adequately address regional outdoor recreation needs and what improvements to the land base and services are needed.

  • Community Parks Development & Enhancement Plan, District of Logan Lake, BC
The District of Logan Lake is a destination for both winter and summer outdoor recreation activities, with a parks system that includes nine community parks. LEES + Associates will be working with District staff to develop a parks plan that identifies a range of improvements that could be employed in each of the parks over the next 5 years. The comprehensive plan will address programming, management, and maintenance considerations for each of the existing parks. The intent is to ensure that the District’s community parks system offers a diverse range of recreational amenities for local residents.

  • Burnaby Mountain Trail Development and Assessment, City of Burnaby, BC
LEES + Associates was retained by the City of Burnaby to provide an environmental assessment and detailed trail route layout for a new dual use walking and mountain biking trail on Burnaby Mountain. The new trail will address the growing population in this new neighbourhood and changes in trail use patterns, with an emphasis on balancing conservation and biophysical resource management with recreational uses.
