Commonwealth War Graves - Jones 45 Section Renovation

Client: Canadian Agency of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission

Location: Mountain View Cemetery, City of Vancouver, BC

Date: 2008-2009

Project Description:

Some 575 men and women of the Commonwealth forces who died during World War I or World War II are buried in Mountain View Cemetery. An additional 11,000 veterans (those who served but survived the wars) are also interred throughout the cemetery grounds. The Jones 45 section contains the largest number of war dead within Mountain View Cemetery.
LEES + Associates was retained to undertake conceptual design, design development, cost estimation, preparation of construction drawings and specifications, bid management and contract administration for the renovation of the Jones 45 section of Mountain View Cemetery. The intent is to design to a standard consistent with Commonwealth war cemeteries and plots throughout the world. Jones 45 was officially rededicated in a ceremony held on September 29, 2009.
