Client: Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation
Location: Vancouver, BC
Date: 2004- 2005
Project Description:
This project involved the preparation of a Plan to guide the long-term stewardship and development of a 38-acre park on the former site of a Vancouver landfill. The Plan addressed diverse issues such as the presence of buried waste; the proliferation of invasive plant species; a burgeoning local population, conflicting visitor uses and visions for the park. LEES + Associates worked closely with community groups, conducted open houses, and helped facilitate consensus on key management goals and strategies. The Plan resulted in Park Board's allocation of over $300,000 for capital improvements, some of which were initiated within months of the Plan's unanimous adoption by the Vancouver Park Board.
In 2005, LEES + Associates was the recipient of an Environmental Leadership Award from the BC Recreation and Parks Association for our work on the Everett Crowley Park Management Plan.
